Reasons elderly commit suicide is because of a complex web of conditions contribute to late-life suicide, including physical illness and functional decline, personality traits and coping styles, and social disconnection.
But the vast majority of older people who kill themselves also have a diagnosable mental illness, primarily depression. (Span. P., 2018).
Reasons why elderly commit suicide is because of loneliness, lack of awareness of help resources and the inability of caregivers to detect emotional distress.
