YEP Trip - Chiangmai, Thailand (Dec 2016)

I volunteered at the YEP Trip as part of a school study trip to broaden my horizons and contact, Jia Min and her friends have to build the female bathroom from scratch, by using raw materials and the necessary tools with the guidance of professional staff.

Apart from building the bathroom, she also bonds with the villagers and making new friends. It was a very tiring yet interesting 2-week trip where she gains new knowledge. new cultural experiences and improve on her socializing skills and teamwork.

If giving a change again, I would love to return.

GEP Trip - Hong Kong (Nov 2016)

Beside the YEP trips, I was also selected to have an opportunity to go for an overseas school learning trip of Global Education Programme (GEP) to Hong Kong for 4 to 5 Days. Whereby we attend lessons in a Hong Kong institution to learn more about their education system, education environment and what they learn.

Apart from visiting schools, we also take a tour in one of their environment-friendly warehouses' exhibition that teaches us their ways of handling recycled items. I enjoyed the trip as I have gain better knowledge of the education system in Hong Kong, better understanding of their Eco-system.

Sarah Home Sports Day (2016)

The objective of these events is to encourage and motivate the elderly (beneficiaries) to exercise and have fun with their peers.

I was assigned to assist with the planning of games and communicating with the food catering together with the current comms members. I even lead the elderly with warm-up exercises and being a game facilitator.
During the events, I had an opportunity not only engaging with the beneficiaries but also understand the ways of how a club runs as I would need to take over the roles.

Painting of 2 Melrose Tuition Room

This is a community service event that I had volunteered with some of my friends I met during the YEP trip.
My role there is to assist the staff in painting the two tuition classroom and ensuring that the classroom item is to be arranged after painting. It may involve physical strength as it takes a lot of energy.
Some of the learning points were physical skills like painting a room, communicate and work as a team to ensure all part of the room is covered, lastly, knowing that the classroom would then be used to tutor fewer privilege kids providing them with educating make me Absorb into more possible events.
