Self-initiated CES Project - National Day Celebration with Sarah Homes & Pacific Activity Center (2017)
This is a celebration organised and executed solely by ME during my service as the President of Rotaract club, in the day of National celebrations.
What did I Do:
- Plan the events objective and goals
- Submitted a proposal of the events
- Designing and Executing with activity and entertainment
- Gather manpower and trained them
- Purchasing food Catering
- Analyze possible mistake
- Ensure the safety of the place & people
- Communicate with partners/beneficiaries
- Ensure all logistic is achieved
- Doing Bookkeeping
- Oversee the whole events
- Do a trail runs of the events
Some highlight of events such as "sing-along KTV", "guess the place" all related to Singapore with attractive prizes to be won. The objective of the event was not only to have fun but also have the elderly to learn and share their knowledge about Singapore. Even though there were some difficulties along the way, such as arranging the right dates, coming up with activities that would hype the elderly and even some of the keynotes of thing we should not be saying that might upset them. Thankfully, these problems were not huge and the partners were also able to assist us.
Some of the key takeaways that I have accomplished were more compassion towards the elderly community, the ability to be able to implement and execute events and lastly, the importance of having people that support what you are doing as no events are able to be run alone. I felt really thankful towards my friends who willing to be there during the actual events assisting my operations.

Project Management Module - Sightful Ones (2019) with Dialogue in the Dark (DiD) & Goalball SG
This is a school module project organized and executed by the 7 of us. My role in this social project was the Logistics and Finance IC.
What I Did:
-
Enforcing group policies and practices
-
Look for potential partnership/sponsor
-
Source & Manage resources/inventory
-
Communicate with the partner on items
-
Manage & Supervise expenses spent
-
Prepare the Financial statement
-
Finding volunteers and design training for them
-
Prepare logistics for a trail run and actual events
-
Facilitate the games and bonding day
During the actual events, I was the Manpower IC and the IC of the registration booth where I had to brief of the volunteers & attendance and ensure of the volunteer's welfare and making sure they are doing what they are in charge of when needed I would need to demonstrate the game when needed. The event runs on smoothly even though it was a challenge in finding sponsorship for the events apart from Did as companies such as 100plus, sports drink, only support a bigger volume of people. Luckily, one of our classmates have contact with the "red-blue" company to supply us with 50 can drinks.
In conclusion, Sightful One's event - Goalball for all has made me felt more compassion towards our partners at DiD, I had gained a new perspective and more insight about the visual impairment community and not forgetting the friendship built and it was a heart-warming moment when I saw the achievable when participants were very respectful towards the DiD's goalballers. To me, It not how big the events were but how impactful it is. Thank you Dialogue in the Dark (DiD) & Goalball SG.

For an assignment of mine for the Innovation & Entrepreneurship for Social Change 2 module, I had decided to create tackle the topic of elderly suicide in Singapore as I felt that it is mostly "sugar-coated" and often left unhelped, therefor:
What I did:
-
Research background information on elderly suicide
-
Finding the demographics and the overall
picture on the elderly suicide & its needs -
Identify the current initiative or policies
implemented by government -
Finding evidence to define the problems
-
Doing a short introduction video on the topic
with the information found -
Did research on elderly suicided problems
in US on an infographic -
Video editing using Abode
-
Proposed with actions plans to contribute to
the community on a
personal level -
Volunteering at elderly community events
Some of the key takeaways I get from this was how invisible the line of suicide is being hidden up, Singapore should re-tackle the one this issues. Secondly, faced slight difficulties in finding for more statistics as elderly suicide is not a very common topic, therefore I need to spend more time deep for more information and volunteer more in the community to gather more data.

For an assignment of mine for the Innovation & Entrepreneurship for Social Change 1 module, We were a sked to pick our own SE business plan, therefore, Mine is "Wheelcare".
What I did:
-
Research history on Wheelchair
-
Research on the type of disability
-
Identify the problem that wheelchair-bound faces
-
Government actions to resolve
-
Collect and brainstorm on the possible action plan
-
Compare the ideas with competitors
-
Identify ideas sustainability and Scalability level
-
Analytics using Competitive Advantage
-
Evaluate using Social Enterprise Model
-
Community mapping
-
Interviewing target beneficiaries
In summary, my SE ideas are to offer a service that is similar to a travel agency, by providing the wheelchair-user overseas and even locally including planing Itinerary for consumer, provide excellent customer service with high service knowledge, offers reasonable prices but also guarantee journeys with hassle-free, provide Insurance with each trip lastly, it has a wide range of customized tours. Plus, rather than targeting disability wheelchair-bound, the ideas was to hire the low-income community, which would provide them with jobs and an opportunity to travel too.
Even though I don't get to implement my ideas, this project has made me see Singapore in a slightly different perspective as it not very much wheelchair friendly, I feel more appreciative on what I have rather than getting angry on what I don't have.

IS Module - Fashion and Design (Individual)/ The Singapore Skin (7SKIN)
For the Fashion and Design module I took in my second year of study, I have tasked to design a tote bag with the theme of Singapore.
What I did:
- Research on items that represent Singapore
- Brainstorm on the possible design
- Drafting possible design on paper
- Trying out the design on fabric
- Choosing Colour
- Motifs the design on the tote bag
I did research on art forms and art styles that match the theme of Singapore, applying my creativity skills into designing a unique Singapore themed tote bag. I enjoy the process definitely something different from most of my school module.
The second task is the work design of fashionable clothing using recycled materials. We were evening with only a Mannequin without any clothing on. This provides me with an opportunity to enhance my fashion design skills.
What I did:
- Research on material available to use
- Start drafting on paper
- Doing measurement of the mannequin
- Cutting out the right design
- Putting the design
- Improvise the design
- Final touch
While noticing that most people are doing either skirt of a dress, therefore I thought of doing pants instead. The Trumpet pants (aka bell-bottom), a naval origin In the early 19th century, when a standardized uniform did not yet exist in the U.S. It has the shape of a bell cuff.
However, as the mannequin is not standing with legs apart but with one leg in front, this put challenges in my design, which require me to make the adjustment to make the pants looks right.
Learning Points:
- Artistic Skills
- Designing Skills
- Printing Skills
- Improvising
- Old style printing design
